Eight hours from now, I am going to run my first 8.8k. This is the first time I’m running officially over 30 minutes. I’m targeting an hour for this run, I figure that is way more than enough time but if I go beyond, that should be fine. The goal is to finish.
I’m pretty worried I won’t last, I haven’t had very good training sessions in the past 2 days… my music hasn’t been motivating me but at the same time, I’m pretty scared to change it. I don’t want to feel like I don’t like what I’m listening to during the race and lose focus because I’m upset with the music (which is something that I know I am so capable of feeling). I decided to mix in a few songs that I’ve really been liking the past week and mixing it up a bit with the songs I ran with during the past two races.
- Breathless – The Corrs (I figure if it’s something that I am bound to be at the end, might as well remind myself from the start)
- Human – The Killers
- Learn to Fly – Foo Fighters
- Major Tom – Peter Schilling (There is something about #3 and #4 that really help me kick it up a notch)
- Devil Inside – INXS
- Stars – Switchfoot
- Dance Floor Anthem – Good Charlotte
- Breathe – Michelle Branch (this is my marker song – this means I hit 32 minutes)
- It’s beginning to get to me – Breaking Benjamin (because by this time, it would really be getting to me)
- Pink Life – Gyskard (need to mellow at this point)
- 4 AM – Kaskade
- Selfish – The other two
- Ray of Light – Madonna
*By this point, I would have been running for 55 minutes… so anything after this, my mind probably won’t be able to process anymore. Okay, I gotta get some sleep – goodnight and good luck to me!
